Man killed while repairing city bus

Advertiser Staff

A mechanic sent to work on a broken-down city bus was killed near Tripler Army Medical Center this afternoon when the bus rolled on top of him, an official with O'ahu Transportation Services said.

Roger Morton of O'ahu Transportation Services said two mechanics were sent to repair a Route 32 bus that had experienced mechanical problems. During the repairs, the bus rolled, Morton said.

Emergency crews were sent to the location, Jarrett White Road and Ala Mahamoe, at about 5 p.m. on a report of a person being pinned by a bus. Ambulance personnel at the scene reported that the victim was dead at the scene.

Police traffic investigators are at the scene of the accident and have closed Jarrett White Road between Ala Mahamoe and Mahiole Street while they investigate the incident.
