Police arrest suspect in sandwich shop holdups

Advertiser Staff

Police today arrested a 40-year-old man in Ma'ili as a suspect in the armed robberies of two Subway sandwich restaurants last weekend in Waimalu and 'Aiea.

The arrest was made about 6 p.m., police said. Tips to CrimeStoppers led police to the suspect.

On Sunday night, a gunman fired a warning shot at two employees while pulling off his second Subway sandwich shop robbery in as many days, police said.

Police Detective Paul Nagata said the man who robbed the Subway store at the 'Aiea Commercial Building appears to be the same gunman who held up

a Subway outlet Saturday at the Waimalu Plaza Shopping Center.

No injuries were reported in the robberies.
