Police Beat: Armed robbery suspect arrested

A 28-year-old man was arrested yesterday as a suspect in the Dec. 18 robbery of a Kahala gas station.

A 65-year-old woman who works at the station told police a man came in just before midnight on the night in question, pointed a handgun at her and demanded money.

The robber took an undisclosed amount and ran from the store, police said.

Members of the East Honolulu crime reduction unit identified and arrested the suspect yesterday on suspicion of first-degree robbery.

Would-be purse snatcher thwarted, arrested

Police arrested a 40-year-old man yesterday as a suspect in an early morning purse-snatching incident in the Chinatown area of Downtown Honolulu.

They said a 49-year-old woman reported walking down the street about 1:40 a.m. in the area near King and Smith streets when a man grabbed her purse.

She said she held on while the man tried to wrest her purse away but eventually fell to the pavement.

Police said the woman's male companion chased the suspect and managed to get the woman's handbag back.

Police were called to the area, located the the suspect, had the woman whose handbag was taken identify him and then arrested him for second-degree robbery.

Two men allegedly beat woman, dog

Police are looking for two men who allegedly beat up a woman, police said.

On June 2, at about 9 p.m., a female was walking her dog on the corner of Iroquois Road and Fort Weaver Road, when she was grabbed by one of the men and pulled behind the Ewa by Gentry sign, police said.

The second man held her dog and began kicking it while she was being beaten, police said.

Both men fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The first man is described as being 18- to 20-years old, standing 6-foot-1, and weighing 180 pounds. He has brown eyes, a tan complexion and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue denim long pants and tennis shoes.

His alleged accomplice is believed to be the same age, standing 5-10, weighing 140 pounds. He has brown eyes, a tan complexion and was last seen wearing a black sweat shirt and blue denim long pants.

Woman taken to abuse center after alleged sexual assault

Police are investigating a complaint filed by a 41-year-old woman who reported bing sexually assaulted by a 29-year-old man at her home in Honolulu yesterday.

The woman told police she asked the man to come to her home to help her resolve a problem, but he assaulted her instead at about 3:30 p.m. yesterday.

The woman called 911 later to file a police report and was taken to the Sexual Abuse Treatment Center for an examination.

No arrests had been made in the case as of this morning.

Search on for man who robbed two women

Police are looking for a man wanted for allegedly robbing two women.

On June 21, at about 5:30 a.m., two women were walking past the bus stop at 810 N. Vineyard Boulevard when the man ran up from behind and grabbed one of the women's purse.

After pushing her to the ground, the man grabbed the second woman's purse and also pushed her to the ground, police said.

The man was last seen fleeing on foot across North Vineyard Boulevard.

The man is described as being in his 20s, standing 5-foot-10, and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds. He has brown eyes, a brown complexion and was last seen shirtless, wearing blue denim long pants and no shoes.
