Tennis tourney to benefit foundation

The 18th annual C.M Bidwell & Associates/Pilot Foundation of Hawai'i Tennis Championship will be Aug. 11 to 13 at the Central O'ahu Regional Park Tennis Complex.

The event is a fundraiser for the Pilot Foundation, which helps adults and children with brain illnesses. The Pilot Foundation donates time and money to organizations such as the Alzheimer's Association and Special Olympics.

C.M. Bidwell and Associates has donated $20,000 to assist the foundation as the tournament's main sponsor for the next four years.

The event will offer competition in men's and women's singles and doubles, in 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 divisions. The draw is limited to 32 entries per event. Entry deadline is Aug. 2.

Cost is $26 for singles ($15 is a donation) and $36 for doubles ($20 donation). For more details, e-mail info@pilotfound ationofhawaii.org.

9 WIN CAMP AWARDS

Nine high school players from Hawai'i Athletes in Action won awards at the All-Poly Football Camp in Utah, June 15 to 17. The camp featured more than 350 participants from high schools from the United States and American Samoa.

Hawai'i's winners:

Kapua Sai, Saint Louis (underclassmen MVP offensive line); Ikaika Cavaco-Amoy, Saint Louis (MVP defensive end); Kealii Brown, Saint Louis (MVP offensive line); Alofa Liilii, 'Aiea (MVP receiver); Mana Ohia, 'Aiea (MVP safety); Lolegi Maae, Castle (MVP linebacker); Shanden Augustus, Pac-Five (MVP running back); Ana Tuiasosopo, Saint Louis (225-pound bench press champ); Tui Tuiasosopo, Saint Louis (185-pound bench press champ and MVP overall offensive lineman).
