Island Life staffers tasted Kua 'Aina's half-pound avocado burger and thought it was a bit overrated, but readers love the place.

Nearly 600 people voted in our online poll of eight hamburgers that recently were taste-tested by Island Life staffers.

The winner, with about 250 votes, was Kua 'Aina Sandwich Shop. The W&M burger was a respectable second with more than 175 votes (polling was still going on as we went to press).

Other burgers we sampled were from Bob's Bar-B-Que, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Islands Restaurant, Nico's at Pier 38, The Pineapple Room and Town.

A few readers suggested other meaty masterpieces, including those at Big City Diner, Kalapawai Market in Kailua, Ray's Cafe in Kalihi, Ted's at Sunset Beach and Ruby Tuesday.

Thanks for voting!
