UH football assistant Singletary leaving

By Stephen Tsai
Advertiser Staff Writer

Vantz Singletary, who has coached the University of Hawai'i football team's defensive line for the past seven seasons, has accepted a similar coaching job with the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.

Singletary cited family reasons in deciding to relocate.

"I have a lot of family in the South," Singletary said. "It will be the best move not just for me but for my family."

At UH, Singletary has coached current NFL players Travis LaBoy and Isa'ako "Isaak" Sopo'aga.

"It's very tough to leave," he said. "I love this place. But I have a real peace about the move."
