Three from Isles advance in Australia
Hawai'i surfers Megan Abubo, Rochelle Ballard and Keala Kennelly advanced to the third round of the Roxy Pro yesterday.
The opening day of the women's contest was completed in 2- to 3-foot waves at Snapper Rocks, Queensland, Australia.
Abubo and Ballard had solid first-round showings to advance directly to the third round.
Kennelly lost her first-round heat, but came back to advance through the elimination second round.
It is the first contest of the 2006 women's World Championship Tour.
The men's Quiksilver Pro, also being staged at Snapper Rocks, did not run heats yesterday.
