MICHAEL BOLTON, KANYE WEST IN BLAISDELL ARENA SHOWS

Tickets are going on sale for two very different concerts in April.

  • Crooner Michael Bolton, known for his "blue-eye soul" and the hit "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You," performs at 7:30 p.m. April 6 at the Blaisdell Arena. Reserved tickets — $45 and $55 — go on sale today.

  • Rap star Kanye West, winner of six Grammy Awards (three just recently), will perform at 7:30 p.m. April 9 at the Blaisdell Arena. West's latest album is "Late Registration," which won the Grammy for best rap album last month. Tickets — $49.50 general and reserved - go on sale at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

    CONTRABASS FEST THIS MONTH

    The 4th biennial Hawai'i Contrabass Festival, March 19-26, mentors students under 18 and offers concerts that are open to the public. Among them is a jazz and free-improv concert featuring Japan's Nobuyoshi Ino and Tetsu Saito at 7:30 p.m. March 24 at the Doris Duke Theatre; tickets are $22 general, $15 students and Honolulu Symphony musicians.
