BYUH beats HPU in PacWest, 71-68

Austin Smylie scored 16 points, and Eric Boyce and Paul Peterson each added 14, helping Brigham Young-Hawai'i hold off Hawai'i Pacific, 71-68, last night in a Pacific West Conference game at Cannon Activities Center in La'ie.

BYUH, which trailed 38-36 at halftime, improved to 14-11 overall and 6-6 in conference.

Audrius Peciukas scored 19 points to lead the Sea Warriors (8-19, 3-9).

Donnell Dobbins and Finis Harwell each added 13 points, and Rick Wilson contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds for HPU.


SOFTBALL

RAINBOW WAHINE TOURNAMENT RAINED OUT

The University of Hawai'i softball tournament scheduled for yesterday was rained out.

The Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament is scheduled to be played today and tomorrow, weather permitting.

Here is the tentative schedule for today and tomorrow:

TODAY

10 a.m.—Mercer vs. UC Riverside; noon—Mercer vs. California; 2 p.m.—UC Riverside vs. California; 4 p.m.—Hawai'i vs. Mississippi Valley State; 6 p.m.—Hawai'i vs. Florida International; 8 p.m.—Florida International vs. Mississippi Valley State.

TOMORROW

8 a.m.—Mississippi Valley State vs. Mercer; 10 a.m.—Mississippi Valley State vs. UC Riverside; noon—Hawai'i vs. UC Riverside; 2 p.m.—Hawai'i vs. California; 4 p.m.—Florida International vs. California.
