Flash flood watch in effect

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has extended a flash flood watch for Oahu, Kauai, and Niihau through 4 p.m. today.

According to forecasters, a slow-moving trough west of Kauai still poses a risk of additional heavy rainfall, which could result in rapid rises in steam levels and increase the chance of landslides. Recent rains have left the ground saturated in areas of the three islands.

Kauai was hit with heavy rains last night and eastern areas of the Big Island and windward Oahu experienced moderate showers this morning.

Conditions are expected to improve through the weekend.
