Gas likely to rise 7¢ on Monday

The maximum wholesale price for gasoline could rise about 7 cents a gallon Monday to $2.09 a gallon for regular on O'ahu, according to Advertiser calculations.
That price excludes taxes and a retail markup. Hawai'i sets a ceiling on wholesale prices but does not regulate retail prices. The price cap is expected to rise because of an increase in wholesale gasoline prices on the Mainland.
PLAYSTATION 3 DEBUT DELAYED
TOKYO — Sony will put off the release of its much awaited PlayStation 3 machine until November from its planned spring debut because of delays in finalizing its next-generation disk technology, the company said today.
The PlayStation 3 is critical for Sony Corp.'s profits and brand image, so a delay is seen as a major setback for the Japanese electronics and entertainment company as it struggles to mount a recovery after several years of poor earnings.
ENRON STIFLED CRITICS, JURY TOLD
HOUSTON — A former Enron Corp. executive said yesterday he and his staff were swept from the company's risk-assessment squad to another division after the chief executive officer at the time, Jeffrey Skilling, complained they had acted more like "cops" than deal facilitators.
Vince Kaminski, still evaluating risk for Enron two years later, said he got a cold reaction when he told executives, including company founder Kenneth Lay, that Enron needed to "come clean" on questionable financial structures in the weeks before it crashed into bankruptcy. Kaminski, a mathematician and economist, couldn't find a receptive ear in Enron's top ranks, he told jurors in the seventh week of the fraud and conspiracy trial of Skilling and Lay.
