Moloka'i High alum Kimo von Oelhoffen, a starting defensive tackle for Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh last season, agreed to a three-year, $9.2 million contract with the New York Jets yesterday. The contract includes a $3.2 million signing bonus.

Also, Kahuku alum Toniu Fonoti, an offensive guard, agreed to a one-year contract with the Oakland Raiders.

The 6-foot-4, 299-pound von Oelhoffen, had 35 solo tackles and 12 assisted tackles last season for the Steelers. He was an unrestricted free agent.

"Leaving Pittsburgh was very hard, but he felt it was a great opportunity," said von Oelhoffen's agent, Mark Bartelstein. "He's the kind of guy they want to build the program around."

Von Oelhoffen, 35, will be entering his 13th NFL season. He is a Moloka'i High alum who played at Boise State.

Fonoti, 24, was drafted in 2002 by San Diego. He was traded to Minnesota last season, and was a free agent.

Fonoti, (6-4, 350), played college football at Nebraska.
