ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Visit old-time Mo'ili'ili

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Get a glimpse of Mo'ili'ili past — when sake was brewed and stock-car races happened — at "Mo'ili'ili — The Life of a Community." The exhibit, based on the book of the same name, opens 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i.

The show recalls an evolving Japanese-American neighborhood — pre-Kapi'olani Boulevard and H-1 Freeway. On view 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays, through May 5. Curator Laura Ruby will share memories and images in a slide show at the gallery, 4 to 5:30 p.m. April 8 — you can bring your vintage Mo'ili'ili photos and stories.

Free. Call 945-7633.
