UH baseball team falls to Louisiana Tech again

Associated Press

Mims Boyce sparked a three-run eighth inning to lift Louisiana Tech over Hawaii, 5-4, on Saturday.

Boyce went 3-for-4 and scored two runs for Louisiana Tech (11-10, 2-0 Western Athletic Conference). His single to right field to lead off the top of the eighth started the rally in the come-from-behind win.

Hawaii (18-8, 0-2) put together eight hits behind Esteban Lopez, who went 2-for-4 and scored once, but they couldn't drive many runs home.

The Rainbows went scoreless in the final three innings and left a total of eight men on base.

Derek Dupree had two hits, but didn't score. No other Hawaii player had more than one hit, and none scored more than one run.

Alan Knotts (2-2) received the win for allowing no hits and no runs in 1.1 innings.

Darrell Fisherbaugh (2-1) took the loss, giving up the final two runs of the game.
