Rains close O'ahu roads

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu police are reporting road closures islandwide following heavy rains that pounded O'ahu this morning. The Windward side has been particularly hard hit.

Road closures include: Ke Iki Road and Kamehameha Highway in Hale'iwa; Kamehameha Highway between Waihe'e and Waikane Bridges; and Kamehameha Highway just in front of Turtle Bay is closed because of a downed power line, police said.

Sunset Beach Elementary School's field was under water, but there has been no flooding in buildings there, said Greg Knudsen, Department of Education spokesman. An earlier police report said there was flooding at the school.
