Kalihi convenience store robbed

Police arrested two men, ages 20 and 21, early yesterday morning as suspects in the robbery of a Kalihi convenience store.Two women who work at the store said the men entered it about 3 a.m. One of them walked around the end of the checkout counter, told the employee to open the register and took all of the money, the store employees said.
The second man walked to a food warmer and took two bentos.
The two men ran out of the store but were found nearby by police responding to a robbery call. The two men were arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
Store reports forgery attempt
A 42-year-old Waikiki man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly tried to use a forged and stolen check to buy more than $2,000 worth of merchandise from the Best Buy store in Iwilei.
Police said a cashier became suspicious of the man after he handed over a state identification card that appeared to have been altered. The cashier made several inquiries and learned the check had been reported stolen and determined the man who presented the check was not the same man pictured on the ID card.
Police were called to the store and arrested the man on suspicion of first- and second-degree forgery and second-degree identification theft.
Sexual assault reported
Police yesterday were investigating a complaint filed by a 24-year-old woman who said she was sexually assaulted late Saturday night in Waikiki by a stranger.
The woman told police that she left a bar about 11:30 p.m. but could not remember how to get back to the street where she had parked her car. She said she approached a man to ask for directions and that he offered to walk with her back to the car.
As they were walking, the man pushed her into an alley and assaulted her, the woman told police.
She described her attacker as being in his 20s, about 5-foot-7, weighing about 190 pounds and having a muscular build. No suspects had been arrested as of this morning.
Hawai'i Kai car thief charged
A car thief suspected of preying on the Hawai'i Kai area was charged yesterday with two counts of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
Police believe the man, 21, stole a car Oct. 16 that belonged to a 61-year-old man and stole another car on Nov. 5 that belonged to a 36-year-old man.
Bail for the suspected car thief was set at $30,000.
Argument ends in nine shattered windows
A 21-year-old man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly kicked out nine plate-glass windows in a Honolulu apartment building, causing more than $5,000 damage.
Police said the man returned to his mother's apartment about 2:30 a.m., was intoxicated and began to argue with her in the building's lobby.
The man became angry and shattered the nine windows, police said. Police said the man left the building before police arrived, but returned about 5 a.m. and was arrested on suspicion of second-degree criminal property damage.
Wife reports sexual assault
A 23-year-old man from the Laulani Valley area of Mililani was arrested yesterday after his wife told police he choked and sexually assaulted her.
The wife, 24, told police she had been arguing with her husband when he physically assaulted her, threw her to the ground and sexually assaulted her about 5 p.m.
The husband left the couple's apartment on Wikao Street before police arrived but was located at the corner of Wikao and Kahelu streets and arrested on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault, kidnapping and abuse of a family or household member.
