UH softball pitcher named WAC Player of the Week

University of Hawai'i freshman Justine Smethurst has been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference softball Pitcher of the Week.Last Thursday, Smethurst pitched a perfect game in a 6-0 victory over Longwood in the opening round of the Bank of Hawai'i Invitational. It was her first career shutout and no-hitter. She struck out six, and had only three three-ball counts. Smethurst's peformance helped Bob Coolen earn his 600th career coaching victory.
