Wie completes schedule, will play in Samsung

Associated Press

Michelle Wie accepted an invitation Monday to the Samsung World Championships, filling out the eight LPGA Tour events the 16-year-old is allowed to play this year.

Wie made her professional debut at Samsung last October, and it was a memorable start. She finished in a tie for fourth place, but was disqualified an hour later for what was ruled a bad drop in the third round that led her to sign an incorrect scorecard.

This year's tournament will be played Oct. 12-15 at Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert, Calif., where Wie's family recently bought a house.

Wie, a Punahou School junior, already has played the Fields Open in Hawai'i, where she finished third, a stroke behind.

She plans to play all four major championships, along with the Evian Masters, HSBC Match Play Championship and the Samsung.

Because she is not an LPGA Tour member, she is allowed only six exemptions. The U.S. Women's Open and Women's British Open do not count toward her six.
