Rainbows thrash Vulcans in baseball, 13-5

Hawai'i had season-highs in runs and hits in a 13-5 win against Hawai'i–Hilo Wednesday at Wong Stadium in Hilo.

The Rainbows (20-8) sent 12 batters up in a seven-run sixth inning to sweep the two-game series from the Vulcans (9-18).

Justin Frash paced UH's 19-hit attack by batting 5 for 6 with four RBIs. Luis Avila hit a two-run home run in the fifth and Kris Sanchez had a pinch-hit, three-run double in the seven-run inning.

Mark Rodrigues (3-1) pitched six innings, allowing a run, two hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Keahi Rawlins added 1· innings and Jayson Kramer finished the last 1° innings for the Rainbows, who return to action Sunday in a three-game series against UC Santa Barbara.

Ryan Olezewski (2-4) was tagged for five runs, 11 hits and a walk in 4° innings for the Vulcans, who used five relievers.
