Friends and shipmates of Navy Operations Specialist 3rd Class Zachary Ryan Johnson yesterday held a remembrance ceremony at Pearl Harbor for the sailor missing since March 11.

The sailor, who was assigned to the Pearl Harbor-based cruiser USS Lake Erie, was caught by currents while swimming at Spitting Cave near Hanauma Bay and unable to swim to shore. Searches by the Fire Department, Coast Guard and Navy failed to find the 21-year-old from Windsor, Colo.

Lake Erie commander Capt. Joseph A. Horn Jr. said, "He is remembered as a reliable sailor, trusted shipmate, and constant companion."
