Local restaurateur Bob Bach and Kai Waikiki, owned by a Tokyo-based restaurant company, are among the latest tenants to sign leases in Outrigger Enterprises' Waikiki Beach Walk retail and entertainment complex, the hotel company announced yesterday.

Bach, operator of the Round Table Pizza franchise in Hawai'i, will open a yet-to-be-named sports bar and restaurant, Outrigger said.

Other new tenants include Honolulu Cookie Co., Mondo Gelato, Surf City Trading Co. and Jewelry by Lea & Kea.

In all, six restaurants and bars, a pedestrian plaza and up to 40 retail stores are slated for the complex, which is expected to open toward the end of the year.

Previously announced tenants include Ruth's Chris Steak House, Yard House, Roy's Restaurant, Holokai Grill, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and cream-puff purveyor Beard Papa's.

Some of the first tenants are scheduled to open Nov. 1, Outrigger said.

The complex is part of Outrigger's $460 million, 7.9-acre redevelopment project along Lewers Street, Beach Walk, and Kalia and Saratoga roads.

When the project is complete, five existing hotels and two smaller apartment hotel buildings will make way for a new, low-rise 92,000-square-foot retail entertainment complex among four new and/or renovated hotels and time-share properties.
