Dinner and a movie? Who can resist? The Kapi'olani Community College culinary program puts on a Middle Eastern food-and-film event April 3. Why are we telling you about this now? Because you have to call for reservations — 734-9211 or or 223-0130 — by 5 p.m. Monday.

For $25 (20 percent discount for students and faculty) you get a demo on how to make stuffed grape leaves at 7 p.m., buffet dinner at 7:30 p.m. and at 8 p.m. the screening of "Rumi: Poet of the Heart," about Sufi mystic Jelaluddin Rumi, narrated by Debra Winger. Filmmaker Haydn Reiss will attend.

The buffet includes stuffed grape leaves, hummus, baba ganoush, red lentil soup, green bean-and-beef stew, rice pilaf and hochef (dried fruits and nuts in rosewater syrup).

The venue: the college's 'Ohi'a Building, Room 118. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
