Photography workshop: The Hotel Hana-Maui will host Robert Glenn Ketchum's "Visions of Paradise" photography workshop May 1-6. Ketchum, recognized by Audubon magazine as a champion of conservation and environmental photography, will host the workshop; the hotel provides five nights, five breakfasts, a welcome reception, a farewell dinner with wine pairings, one lunch, snacks during workshops and access to the spa and wellness center. Culinary Event: The Hotel Hana-Maui also will host East Maui's first culinary and cultural event May 8-13. "A Reflection of Place Culinary Adventure" showcases a culinary tour of East Maui and the combined talents of hotel chefs John Cox and David Patterson, along with guests chefs Susur Lee, Cal Stamenov, Edward Tuson and Craig Von Foerster. The package features two special dinners for which the chefs will collaborate on nine-course tasting menus presented in the turn-of-the-century Plantation House, followed by discussions and menu-signing with the chefs. There also is a Hana-style lu'au at nearby Hamoa Beach. The package includes five nights, lei greeting and tropical fruit drink, breakfast for two daily, two 60-minute Honua Spa treatments (one per person), signed menus, recipes and discussions with chefs, Honua Spa amenities (steam, cold plunge and hot tub), transportation to Hamoa Beach, and tours of farms and Kahanu Gardens.
