HAWAI'I BRIEFS
Residents told to conserve water

Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Board of Water Supply last night issued a mandatory water conservation notice to residents of the Wahiawa and Whitmore Village areas after a pump failed at Wahiawa Station 2.

People should not wash cars, hose down driveways or make other nonessential uses of water for at least a couple of days, or until the pump is repaired, water agency spokeswoman Wanda Yamane said. People are also asked to limit clothes washing during this time.

Water should be used only for essential uses such as drinking, cooking and sanitation, Yamane said.
