UH hires Saint Mary's Clapp as associate AD

Carl Clapp, who has been director of athletics and recreational sports at Saint Mary's College of Moraga, Calif., has been hired as associate athletic director for administrative services at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa.Clapp interviewed at UH this month for the position vacated by Tom Sadler last September.
"I am excited about the opportunity to join the University of Hawai'i and contribute to the academic and competitive success of our student-athletes," Clapp said in a news release.
Clapp's responsibilities will include overseeing the ticket operations and facilities management. He also will supervise the men's volleyball, baseball, softball and cross country programs, UH said.
Clapp spent nearly six years in charge of athletics at Saint Mary's, a West Coast Conference school. Prior to that Clapp was athletic director at Redlands University (1995-2000) and Avila College (1992-95) in Missouri. He also served as commissioner of the Midlands Collegiate Conference.
Clapp has been an assistant football coach at Emporia State, Arizona, Arizona State and Wichita State.
Sadler's position, which was as right-hand man to athletic director Herman Frazier, had a pay ceiling of $110,000.
