Warriors sweep Stanford in volleyball

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i used sizzling serves to overpower Stanford, 30-20, 30-19, 30-20, Wednesday night in the Burnham Pavilion in Stanford, Calif.

It was the Warriors' 14th consecutive victory. In winning in 75 minutes, the Warriors improved to 18-4 overall and 14-3 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.

A victory in tonight's rematch would move the Warriors into a virtual tie with idle UC Irvine (14-2) atop the MPSF.

The Warriors rocketed a season-high 11 aces, including four by opposite attacker Lauri Hakala.

Jose Jose Delgado's 12 kills led the Warriors, who used all 12 players on their active roster.

"It's always pretty special to be able to get everybody on the floor," UH coach Mike Wilton said. "They all played well. It was a good night for us, I thought."
