Roommates brawl over cigs, ice cream

An 18-year-old man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly knocked out his 44-year-old roommate during a dispute over cigarettes and ice cream, police said.

At 11 p.m. yesterday, the older man confronted the other because he thought his cigarettes and ice cream had been stolen, police said. A fight broke out, and the younger man allegedly punched the 44-year-old in the face, knocking him off his feet.

The victim hit his head as he hit the ground and was knocked unconscious, police said.

He was taken to The Queen's Medical Center for treatment. The roommate was arrested on suspicion of assault in the second degree.



Infatuation leads to arrest

A 33-year-old Kalihi man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly used a tire iron to break in to the home of a woman he is "infatuated" with, police said,

At 5:45 p.m. yesterday, the man showed up at the woman's house uninvited. She asked him to leave and he did, but later returned, police said.

When the man came back a second time, he brought a tire iron and broke through the woman's door, police said. A tenant living in the same building tried to restrain the man but the 33-year-old turned on him and began assaulting him, police said.

Officers arrived and arrested the man on suspicion of first degree burglary.
