UH's Harrington earns WAC pitching honor

Hawai'i's Ian Harrington was named the Western Athletic Conference baseball pitcher of he week after helping the Rainbows complete a three-game sweep of Sacramento State yesterday that moved them into first place, the conference office announced.

Harrington, a junior from Renton, Wash., pitched a complete game six-hitter in leading UH to a 5-2 victory. He struck out three and did not walk a batter.

New Mexico State first baseman Luke Hopkins was named the WAC hitter of the week for a 4-fort-9 showing in the Aggies' sweep of Louisiana Tech.

UH's Luis Avila, who hit the three-run home run that was the difference in Sunday's win, was nominated for the award.
