The Baltimore Orioles placed second baseman Brian Roberts on the 15-day disabled list yesterday and recalled infielder Brandon Fahey from Triple-A Ottawa.

Roberts suffered a left groin strain Saturday, and his hip also had been bothering him. He is batting .330 with no homers and 13 RBIs in 24 games.

"We feel like he's probably 10 days away, at least," manager Sam Perlozzo said. "This is a situation where we need Brian for the long haul."

The Orioles put Fahey into the lineup yesterday against Seattle left-hander Jamie Moyer.
