Pearl Harbor sailors to be deployed tomorrow

More than 500 sailors based n Pearl Harbor will leave on a four-month deployment tomorrow morning aboard the USS Hopper and USS Crommelin. Also being deployed is the California-based U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sherman, which arrived at Pearl Harbor on Monday.

The ships will travel to various locations in the Western Pacific to take part in the Cooperation Afloat and Training, or CARAT 2006 exercise, the Navy said in a statement released today. CARAT is a regularly scheduled military training exercise involving Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines.

The ships are slated to leave at 9:30 a.m.
