Advertiser Staff

A 46-year-old civilian employee at Schofield Barracks surrendered to Honolulu police today and was arrested on suspicion of eight felony counts in connection with the April 24 fatal crash in Kunia that left four women dead.

The man turned himself in and was arrested at 11:15 a.m. today, police said.

He was not charged and was released pending investigation.

He was arrested on suspicion of five counts of causing an accident involving death or serious bodily injury and three counts of causing an accident involving substantial bodily injury.

Each count is a class "B" felony punishable by up to 10 years in jail and a $25,000 fine.

Police have said the wreck occurred when a truck carrying 12 people swerved to avoid an oncoming car and slammed head-on into a concrete mixing truck.
