Advertiser Staff

Steven Wright pitched eight effective innings and Eli Christensen drove in three runs to lead Hawai'i over Louisiana Tech, 9-1, Thursday in Western Athletic Conference baseball in Ruston, La.

The Rainbows (34-12 overall, 11-6) were the "home" team because the game was a makeup of a March 19 rainout at Les Murakami Stadium. The series resumes with the Bulldogs (28-19, 9-9) as the home team Friday. The teams play a doubleheader Saturday.

Wright (9-2) gave up a seventh-inning home run to Brandon Hudson, one of six hits he allowed, and one walk with nine strikeouts. Tyler Davis pitched a scoreless ninth.

Hawai'i sent up nine batters in a five-run sixth that was ignited by Christensen's two-run single. Robbie Wilder batted 3 for 5 for UH, which had 10 hits.

LaTech starter Luke Burnett (3-5), who was charged with four runs (three earned) with nine strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.
