Advertiser Staff

Justin Costi pitched 8 2/3 strong innings and Eli Christensen drove in three runs to lead Hawai'i over Louisiana Tech, 9-2, Friday in Western Athletic Conference baseball in Ruston, La.

The Rainbows (35-12 overall, 12-6 WAC) have won six in a row to stay in first place in the WAC. The Bulldogs (28-20, 9-10) have dropped seven of their last eight games.

Costi (7-1) allowed two runs, both in the ninth inning, nine hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. Seldom-used Jeff Soskin struck out the last batter to end the game.

Jericho Jones (5-3) was charged with five runs, four earned, six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings for the Bulldogs.

Christensen hit a two-run home run to center in the second inning to ignite UH's offense. He also had an RBI double in the ninth.

The series continues Saturday with a doubleheader with the first game set for 7 a.m., Hawai'i time.
