Kamehameha wins ILH water polo title

Nanea Fujiyama and Hanalei Crowell each scored three goals to lead host Kamehameha to the Interscholastic League of Honolulu girls water polo championship with an 8-7 victory over Punahou yesterday.

The Warriors earned the ILH's only state tournament berth. The Buffanblu were the two-time defending state champions.

KAHUKU, ROOSEVELT REACH OIA TITLE GAME

Kahuku will play Roosevelt today for the O'ahu Interscholastic Association girls water polo championship at Kaimuki pool.

The Red Raiders advanced with a 15-2 win over Kalani and Roosevelt stopped Kapolei, 7-3, in the semifinals.

The title game is at 3:30 p.m.

RADFORD ADVANCES TO OIA SEMIFINALS

Marlena Malepeai scored 12 of her 16 points in the second half to help Radford to a 38-33 victory over Moanalua in the quarterfinals of the O'ahu Interscholastic Association girls basketball tournament at Radford.

The Rams, the West's top seed, led 17-15 at halftime. Radford plays Kalaheo in the semifinals on Thursday at Mililani.

The Warriors scored four runs in the second inning in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu playoff tournament game at Aloha Stadium. Mitchell Kauweloa went 2 for 3 for the Warriors.

The Warriors face Iolani at 3 p.m. today at Aloha Stadium for the right to face Punahou on Monday.

FOOTBALL

12 HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS TO GET SCHOLARSHIPS

Twelve Hawai'i high school seniors will be honored tomorrow as outstanding football scholar-athletes for the 2005-06 academic year.

Each of the honorees will receive a $1,000 scholarship provided by friends of football in the community.

The event will be held 6 p.m. at the Monarch Room of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.

In addition, veteran coaches Alex Kane and Masa Yonamine will be recognized for their lifelong service to high school football in Hawai'i.

Also, football booster Herbert Kaopua will receive the inaugural Earl Galdeira Community Service Award for his outstanding support of high school and college football in Hawai'i.

Each honoree is a senior who achieved outstanding results as a football player and team leader during his high school career, achieved at least a 3.0 grade-point average in high school and made significant contributions to the community through church, community groups or similar volunteer service.

The honorees, their schools, and their scholarship donors, are as follows:
