Search for missing swimmers resumes

Advertiser Staff

Kaua'i Fire Department personnel today have resumed their search for the missing 17-year-old boy lost in rough surf Saturday off Kawailoa. There are two scuba divers in the water, along with two rescue specialists on a jet ski, as well as lifeguards who are doing a shoreline search. Plans are to continue their intensive search of the area until around noon today.

According to the Kaua'i Fire Department, strong onshore winds are creating extremely hazardous conditions. The ocean is very turbulent, with turning sand and poor visibility.

The search party will move on to Anahola this afternoon where they intend to resume their search for the missing nine-year-old boy from Colorado, who was also swept to sea on Saturday.
