Gov't retirement fund earns 4.8% in first quarter

The Hawai'i Employees' Retirement System, which has about 100,000 members, beat its investment goals during the first three months of 2006, rebounding from a sub-par performance at the close of last year.The pension system earned 4.79 percent during the January to March period, beating a performance target and putting it on track to meet investment goals for the year.
