TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"David Blaine: Drowned Alive," 7 p.m., ABC. Parts of this special, taped in advance, will be a standard magic show. There's also the sort of gimmick Blaine savors: For a week, he's been encased in a capsule across from the Lincoln Center in New York. If all goes well, that will open up near the end of this show and he'll be plunged into water. From there, he'll try to break the record of staying under water for eight minutes, 58 seconds.

"Medium," 9 p.m., NBC. Allison's dreams are especially haunting: They're inhabited by Death himself. He's played by Kelsey Grammer. Switch from "Drowned Alive" to Death for an intense evening.

OF NOTE

"Prison Break," 7 p.m., Fox. The planned break starts to unfold. Meanwhile, two key women, Veronica and Sara, have mixed feelings.

"How I Met Your Mother," 7:30 p.m., CBS. After months, the inept dating service finally has found the perfect woman for Ted. Alas, Lily needs his help.

"Two and a Half Men," 8 p.m., CBS. The good news is that Jake has been invited by a girl to his first boy-girl party. The bad news is that he's getting advice from his Uncle Charlie.

"American Experience: Annie Oakley," 9 p.m., PBS. Frank Butler was a sharpshooter and showman who boasted that he could outshoot anyone. Then Phoebe Anne Moses, a tiny teenager, beat him in a contest. They married and she changed her name to Annie Oakley. The markswoman, just 5 feet tall, would go on to entertain Queen Victoria, Oscar Wilde, Sitting Bull and more.

"What About Brian," 9 p.m., ABC. In the season finale, Brian has finally found a woman he's happy with — until Marjorie accidentally scuttles it.
