Be wary of the "happiness traps," say Dan Baker and Cameron Stauth, authors of "What Happy People Know." According to the duo, the five traps are: trying to buy happiness, trying to find happiness through pleasure, trying to be happy by resolving the past, trying to be happy by overcoming weaknesses, and trying to force happiness. "The essential trick of the happiness traps," Baker and Stauth write, "is that they seem to offer the solution to happiness, even as they destroy any chance of ever achieving it."

FINAL WORD

"The door to your potential is waiting for you. The key is to be on the journey. Keep at it day in and day out. If you are, you're a success today. And you'll be a success tomorrow."

John C. Maxwell | author of "Success: One Day at a Time"
