ISLE FILE
Ching April's best in Major League Soccer

Advertiser Staff

Days after becoming the first soccer player from Hawai'i to be named to the U.S. World Cup roster, Houston Dynamo forward Brian Ching scored another first.

Ching, a Kamehameha Schools alum from Hale'iwa, earned April's Major League Soccer Player of the Month honor, the first of his career.

Ching had six goals and one assist in five games during the opening month of the MLS season.

Ching opened May with a goal and an assist in the Dynamo's 4-3 victory over FC Dallas and he now leads the league in scoring with seven goals in six games. He scored four in the Dynamo's opening game against Colorado on April 2, making him the only player to score a hat trick so far this season.

Ching leads the MLS in shots on goal (14) and is tied with teammate Dwayne DeRosario for game-winning goals (2).
