Disaster Recovery Center on Kaua'i closed Saturday

 •  Storms gone, but cleanup continues

LIHU'E, Kaua'i — There's been a schedule change for Kaua'i's Disaster Recovery Center. It's open through Friday, noon to 8 p.m., and on Monday, noon to 8 p.m.

It won't be open on Saturday as previously announced.

The center is at the Kaua'i War Memorial Convention Hall.

Federal, state and county officials will be on hand to offer assistance to those who suffered losses due to the recent heavy rains and floods.

Residents affected by the disaster are encouraged to register at the Federal Emergency Management Agency Web site, www.fema.gov/assistance or by calling toll-free (800) 621-3362. Those who are speech- or hearing-impaired can call (800) 462-7585.

Telephone lines are open from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., Hawai'i time, seven days a week.
