Schofield soldier killed in training accident identified

A Schofield Barracks soldier who died this morning when the five-ton truck he was riding in overturned on a road in a training area at Fort Irwin, Calif. has been identified as Pfc. Alexander E. Creighton, 23, of Romoland, Calif.

Creighton was an infantryman with the 25th Infantry Division (ID). He was assigned to the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team's 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment.

Creighton joined the Army in June 2005 and was assigned to Schofield Barracks in November 2005.

Nine other soldiers were taken to Weed Army Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

The accident is under investigation.
