Word of Life, St. Francis in D-II final

Moani McBraun and Careena Onosai scored layups in the final 39 seconds, helping Word of Life turn back Hawai'i Baptist, 49-45, last night to advance to the final of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II tournament at McCabe Gym.

Onosai finished with 19 points and sister Shayna added 15 for the Firebrands, who will play St. Francis in tonight's 6:30 championship game at McCabe. Both teams qualified for next week's state Division II tournament at McKinley gym.

Jodi Kamemoto scored 18 points for Hawai'i Baptist, which will play Christian Academy tonight at 5 at McCabe. The winner earns the ILH's fourth berth.

ILH regular-season champion La Pietra gained the league's automatic berth.
