Australian wins Honolulu Triathlon

Australia's Mitchell Dean won the Honolulu Triathlon today at Magic Island.

Dean, 27, finished the 1.5-kilometer (0.93-mile) swim at Ala Moana, 40-kilometer (24.8-mile) bicycle leg down Nimitz Highway near Aloha Stadium and back, and 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) run around Ala Moana Beach Park in 1 hour, 46 minutes, 55 seconds.

Americans Manuel Huerta, 22, finished second at 1:47:00 and Haven Barnes, 30, third at 1:47:06.

Jasmine Oeinck, 21, of Littleton, Colo., won the women's title in 1:56:51.

Americans Sarah Groff, 25, finished second at 1:57:18 and Sara Mclarty, 23, third at 1:58:08.

Dean and Oeinck each earned $3,000 for the victory.
