Quarterfinals

Punahou 60, Kahuku 36: One huge quarter was all Punahou needed to advance to the semifinals of the Hawaiian Airlines/HHSAA Girls Basketball State Championships.

The Buffanblu defeated Kahuku behind a 24-3 advantage in the second quarter. Punahou faces Konawaena in the semifinals tomorrow. Roosevelt plays Honoka'a in the other semifinal.

Sophomore forward Shawna-Lei Kuehu had 15 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals for Punahou (10-2), the defending state champion and top seed. Kuehu had 12 points and senior forward Sophie Merrifield scored eight of her 10 points in the pivotal second period.

Honoka'a 33, Kamehameha 26: Jessika Lorenzo scored 11 points and Wila Lavea added 10 to lead the Dragons.

Honoka'a, the Big Island Interscholastic Federation champion, is 13-1. Kamehameha of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu is 11-5.

Roosevelt 54, Moanalua 32: Iwalani Rodrigues scored 19 points and Tati Beasley added 14 as Roosevelt routed Moanalua in the Hawaiian Airlines Girls Basketball Division I State Championships.

Roosevelt (15-1), the O'ahu Interscholastic Association champion, outrebounded Moanalua (8-10) 39 to 24.

Britni Ronolo led Moanalua, with 10 points.

Konawaena 47, Lahainaluna 33: Jazzmin Awa-Williams scored 23 points to spark Konawaena past Lahainaluna.

Williams also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, had 4 steals and was a perfect 11 for 11 from the free throw line.

Konawaena (14-2) advances to the semifinals for the third year in a row.

Consolation

Kalaheo 48, Mililani 33: Shanadee Canon scored 15 points and Kendra Fischer 13 to lead Kalaheo to victory.

Kalaheo (12-5) led 17-8 at the half and Mililani never got closer than 10 points in the second half.
