Chan Kim became the first Kaimuki athlete since 1966 to win a state golf title and Baldwin won its first team title today.

The 41st annual David S. Ishii Foundation/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association state championship was held at Turtle Bay's Palmer Course yesterday and today.

Kim, who shot a first-round 4-under-par 68 yesterday, shot an even-par 72 today to win by two shots over Honokaa junior Sean Maekawa.

Maekawa shot a 68 today for a 142 total.

Moanalua sophomore Tadd Fujikawa, who shared the Oahu Interscholastic Association individual title with Kim, shot a 72 for a 143 total.

Fujikawa, who was playing with Kim in the final group, was one shot back with a hole to play.

Fujikawa attempted to go for the green on his second shot of the par-5 hole but hit it into the water. He finished up with a double bogey.

Baldwin, of the Maui Interscholastic League, beat Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion Punahou by a shot, 614 to 615.

Howard Pruse led Baldwin with a 72 today as the Bears outshot Punahou, 309 to 312, today.
