Crews working to restore power

Advertiser Staff

Crews from the Hawaiian Electric Company continue working to restore power that went out along parts of O'ahu's Windward coast and the North Shore today.

Police and fire officials said power was restored to most areas between Pupukea and Kahuku by around 10:30 a.m., but power remained out in some areas along the Windward O'ahu — including Kane'ohe, Kahalu'u and He'eia.

Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Terry Seelig said the trouble was apparently caused by power lines that shorted out when they became tangled in trees in the Malaekahana area near Kahuku.
