Fire displaces 13 people

A 3:26 a.m. fire that destroyed a home at 2331 Pauoa Road today displaced 13 people and a dog, the according to the Honolulu Fire Department.

None of the individuals nor the dog were injured in the blaze.

The single story home had been divided into three rental units, with eight people and two visitors inside the first unit, and three others living in the remaining two units, said HFD Capt. Terry Seelig.

Seelig said seven fire companies and 34 firefighters had the blaze under control by 3:38 a.m.

The damage is estimated at $250,000. The Red Cross is assisting those displace by the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Seelig said.
