Diving victim identified as visitor from Minnesota

Advertiser Staff

The city Department of the Medical Examiner has identified the man who died yesterday morning while scuba diving with others off Portlock as a 46-year-old visitor from St. Paul, Minn.

A fellow diver taking part in a diver tour found John B. Hennessey's body about 9 a.m. near the Spitting Caves area. Members of the company operating the dive tour brought Hennessey to shore where paramedics and other emergency personnel tried unsuccessfully to revive him, officials said.

An autopsy was scheduled for this morning to determine the cause of Hennessey's death.
