Moloka'i residents are being asked how a proposed luxury house-lots project at La'au Point might have cultural impacts on the community.

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs is sponsoring six meetings on the island to collect community feedback for incorporation into an environmental impact statement being prepared for the planned 200-lot project by Moloka'i Ranch.

General meetings will be from 6 to 8 p.m.:

  • May 31 at Maunaloa Elementary School cafeteria.

  • June 1 at Kulana O Iwi Halau.

  • June 6 at Kualapu'u Elementary School cafeteria.

  • June 7 at Kilohana Recreational Center.

Special meetings for fishers and hunters will be in Kaunakakai from 6 to 8 p.m.

For fishers, the meeting is on June 5 at the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands/Office of Hawaiian Affairs conference room.

For hunters, the meeting is June 8 at the Mitchell Pauole conference room.
