UH baseball headed to NCAA Tournament

For the first time since 1993, the University of Hawaii baseball team is going to the NCAA baseball tournament.UH, which finished second to Fresno State in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament Sunday and which had its best record (43-15) since 1993, received an at-large berth to the 64-team field, announced today.
The 24th-ranked Rainbows will play in a regional at Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore.
UH is the third seed and will play second-seeded Kansas (42-23) Friday.
The Rainbows were gathered at a restaurant in San Jose to watch the selections, televised on ESPN.
Other teams in the double-elimination Regional are Oregon State (39-14), the No. 1 seed, and Wright State (32-25), seeded fourth.
UH had an 18-5 road record.
It has been a turnaround for the program, led by WAC Coach of the Year Mike Trapasso, who was 16-40 in his first year in 2002.
WAC champion Fresno State will play in a regional at Cal State Fullerton. Its opponent will be San Diego.
